Not as good as the last two

Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 is the last of the franchise starring the actors from the 2nd film(with George Lopez being the only actor to star in all 3 BHC films).

Papi and Chloe, joined by their five playful pups and their owners Rachel (Erin Cahill) and her husband Sam move into a posh Hotel called Langham, which is also complete with a luxurious doggy spa for their pooches.

But the smallest of Chloe's litter Rosa, the littlest member of the pack, feels left out.

Now it's up to Papi to help his daughter Rosa to find her inner strength, which turns out to be bigger than she has ever dreamed.

Silly film but the dogs make up for it.

Chih-Nah-Nah

Mercifully, I've now completed the fabled "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" trilogy. Odd as this seems to say, I do think that they saved the best one for last, though I would still argue that this is awful. It has one scene that I thought was, at least, passible.

For reasons I never quite understood Sam (Marcus Coloma), Rachel (Erin Cahill) and their various puppies move into a struggling hotel. Sam takes a job as a gardener, Erin as a Chef and Chloe (Odette Annable) as the hotel's mascot. The hotel though has a problem, a more illustrious hotel nearby is poaching their customers . . . . and I'm sure there are other things going on . . . One of the puppies doesn't like puppy school, or something... Honestly, who cares?

That this one has a plot, even one I can't really remember only a few days later already makes this a better film than the risible first sequel. Erin Cahill returns although because of reasons, Rachael moved on from being a socialite, to a . . rain forest researcher (?) . . . And is now a Chef apparently. Sam at least is consistent in his job. Frances Fisher throws a bit of credibility to the rest of the cast, and Kyle Gass shows up in a minor role.

It's mostly dreadful, obviously. The performances poor, the visual effects work on the "talking" is increasingly sketchy and jokes are risible. All except for one scene in which they audition bands for a party (or something... again who cares). The auditioning dogs are puns based on existing bands, and some of them, along with a scattershot list that is ran though afterwards, was occasionally, very nearly, actually amusing.

I'm still not totally done with Disney dog movies, I know, I still have to watch them go into space and a bunch of other terrible ideas, but hopefully, following this dire series, I've earned myself a little respite.

Happily forever after

This was the best of the 3 movies, mainly because of the ending. I enjoyed the human scenes, but in a movie about talking dogs they are not the main focus. The music bands part made me smile but seeing the dogs use music instruments was weird. And also the australian dogs barking instead of singing because american dogs couldn't understand them made me question about the lore of the movies. For example how we see dogs move their mouth to talk, do humans see that too? Btw I appreciated the female dog in this movie more than the puppies. Good girl.
